A.C.W. CENTRAL MEETING MINUTES

November 1st, 2011

Present: Ruby Heidel, Rosemarie Katzell, Evelyn Foster, Pat Hargrave,
Rhianon Dolby, Joyce Schell, Rojeanne Chadwick, Mary-Jean Dewald.

President Ruby Heidel opened the meeting with prayers. Pat Hargrave gave several readings from ‘The Friendship Book’.

FINANCIAL REPORT

  TOTAL bank balance:     $ 8,375.94

Moved by Rosemarie Katzell, seconded by Mary-Jean Dewald to accept the financial report be accepted as presented. Carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Prayer Partner:  Rev. Chris and Winsome Davis were in Edmonton mid-October as Winsome was having knee replacement surgery. Rojeanne Chadwick sent a get well card.

Kitchen – no report

Social Action:   Funeral Tea for Jane Irving for 100 people.
                       Funeral Tea for Pat Langford.
                       Meadow Sweet Manor catering for 21 people.
                       Joint Sunday service for 52 people.

Sunday School  – Do they need anything? Mary-Jean Dewald will speak to Barb Mutch.

Vestry :   Discussion re: upgrading computer in office – Jaylynn Lawrence will look into getting a used one. November meeting will begin discussing next year’s budget. Day Care will arrange fixing broken window in ladies bathroom. St. Paul’s will be paying for this. Rules are changing for monetary gifts/bequests. This needs to be clarified for the congregations. There has been no response as yet to the search for a new Sec/Treasurer.
The belfry slates on the tower need to be painted.
Comment by ACW: Alumni Glass have been asked to fix the bathroom windows. As St. Paul’s Church is supported by Silvester Glass, they should have been requested. Also why wouldn’t
St. Paul’s be looking after this project totally?

HOSPITAL & SHUT-IN VISITING:
Marj Maunsell is now at River Heights Lodge. As of Nov. 1 Daisy Matthews is still in hospital. Thanksgiving cards were delivered to our shut-ins. Rojeanne Chadwick visited recently with Eva Bracken. The following shut-ins have been added to the list: Elizabeth Wheeldon, Marj Maunsell, Panos Antoniades, Daisy Matthews.

On behalf of Gert Millbank, Rojeanne Chadwick thanked the catering ladies for donating left over meals from Meadow Sweet Manor to Gert while she is recuperating from her broken arm.

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. River Heights Lodge birthday party: Thank you to Joyce Schell for the head table birthday cake. Rosemarie Katzell, Mary-Jean Dewald, Pat Hargrave and Joan Bunce sang old time songs accompanied on the piano by Junice Headley, which the residents enjoyed.

  2. Fall Tea/Bazaar – Saturday, November 19, 2011Posters are made. Kathy Adams will be given one for faxing to Access Cable.
    Bake Table – Joyce Schell, Ruby Heidel. Donations of squares for plates to be made up.
    Serving – Evelyn Foster, Mary-Jean Dewald, Rojeanne Chadwick, Evelyn Grifffiths
    Kitchen – Rosemarie Katzell: We will be serving pie and ice cream.
    Decorating – Bud vases with carnations for tables. Meet Friday 10:30 a.m. to decorate and do the squares.
    White Elephant Table – Pat Hargrave
    Door Prize – Rojeanne Chadwick will contact Milbanke Florist.
    Greeters at the door – Rhianon Dolby and Gladys Pickett.

    Moved by Pat Hargrave, seconded by Evelyn Foster to buy twelve runners in three different colors (total of 24) for the round tables. Carried.

  3. Fundraisers for Mission in Baja
    Ladies Night Out (Dec. 7) - roast pork, scalloped potatoes, salads, vegetables, and apple crisp.
    The men are doing the work and entertainment.
    There will be a ‘work bee’ on Dec. 6 at 1 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. St. Andrew’s Day: Rosemarie Katzell will look after putting flowers on the altar for this Sunday.

  2. Lunch After Church - will not be held in November.


  3. Super Seniors Supper - will be held on Wednesday, November 23. Stew and biscuits will be served and there will be entertainment. This is being organized by Mary-Jean Dewald and Rita Meckling.
