A.C.W. CENTRAL MEETING MINUTES

June 4th, 2012

Present: Ruby Heidel, Mary-Jean Dewald, Rosemarie Katzell, Evelyn Foster, Pat Hargrave,
Marj Morrison, Rhianon Dolby, Rojeanne Chadwick.

President, Ruby Heidel called the meeting to order with prayers. Pat Hargrave gave us two readings from The Friendship Book.
The minutes of the previous meeting were adopted as read by Rojeanne Chadwick, seconded by Evelyn Foster.

FINANCIAL REPORT

Bank balance as of May 31, 2012:
Chancel balance:                    787.02

ACW balance:                   14,526.66
TOTAL bank balance:     $ 15,313.68

Moved by Rosemarie Katzell, seconded by Marj Morrison that the financial report be accepted as presented. Carried.
We reviewed an itemized statement including income from fundraising and expenses towards the Mission to Baja. Our parish has done very well in supporting this project

CORRESPONDENCE

  1. Letter received from Canadian Bible Society requesting financial donations for the translation of the Bible into other languages.
  2. Information read regarding the two families benefiting from building two houses in the Baja.

COMMITTEES

Prayer Partner:  The secretary has written to Bishop Larry Robertson of the Arctic requesting a new prayer partner, as Rev. Chris Davis is retiring in July.

Kitchen – 4 salad bowls, 2 utensil trays, and 2 pitchers have been bought.

Social Action:

May 1 - made fruit pies.
May 2 - Nifty Fifties performance.
May 8 - made fruit pies.
May 14 - prepare veggies.
May 15 - made turkey pies
May 24 - made fruit pies
May 25/26 - Joyce Schell sold pie & coffee at the garage sale
May 30 - catering at Meadow Sweet Manor
May 31 - made beef pies, and fruit pies

Vestry :   Upgraded accounting system and Lydia is receiving training. There is a co-ordinator for the Harvest Supper. Rev. Peter will be away for 5 Sundays during the summer. All services this summer will be held at St. Paul’s. Discussion re: garage sale and the hall being tied up for so long.

HOSPITAL & SHUT-IN VISITING:
Joyce Schell will be recuperating from her surgery at her daughter Beth’s home (and at the lake). Marj Maunsell and Daisy Matthews have been visited. Mary-Jean took Anne Crook over to visit with Daisy. Barb Houston is home again and could be visited more often. Birthday cards for the summer were given to members to be distributed.

OLD BUSINESS:

  1. Mother’s Day Tea – very successful.
  2. Camp Okema – no applications as yet.
  3. Mission to Baja - the diocesan group of twenty-eight left today (June 4).
  4. Western Deanery Fellowship - Ruby was asked to phone Irene McCuaig in Lloydminster.
  5. Harvest Supper will be held on October 17: presold tickets and one setting.
  6. Davidson Manor catering – nothing to report as yet

NEW BUSINESS

  1. June 17 – outdoor service at Eiling Kramer campground
  2. Fellowship Supper - Wednesday, August 22 at Zion Lutheran Church. St. Paul’s ladies will do the salads.

  3. Moved by Rosemarie Katzell, seconded by Rojeanne Chadwick to give $4000.00 to the vestry. Carried.

Next meeting – will be September 10, 2012.
